This firm is a well-established law firm with offices in Leeds, Sheffield and York.
We seek a qualified Solicitor ideally circa 5yr+ post qualification to be based in York, as we feel this will have given you exposure and hands on experience of handling a busy caseload of residential property work. You should have proven demonstrable experience of working in a busy residential conveyancing department, including handling sales and purchases of freehold and leasehold property and re-mortgages.
You should have handled your own conveyancing caseload to include sales, purchases, shared ownerships, leasehold flats, new builds and transfers of equity. Preference will be given to candidates who have also gained an understanding of the CQS accreditation.
Duties will include the preparation and summarising of legal documents as well as drafting and negotiating transactions. The workload will be varied therefore it would be advantageous if you have experience of being able to manage large volumes of work.
We would expect you to be able to demonstrate a committed approach to your work, have excellent technical skills and a solid grounding in residential property law law. Overall you should be motivated, flexible and enthusiastic and be keen to assist with legal and regulatory issues.
Whilst we encourage our fee earners to work as part of a team, you should also be keen to assist in the growth of both the department and firm and get involved in a range of marketing and business development initiatives. We regard the ability to get out of the office, win work and market for the team and the firm as essential qualities in the modern legal services market.
As you will be in regular contact with colleagues from other areas within the firm, you should have the confidence and ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels, both in writing and verbally.
The department is relaxed and informal, but extremely professional. We put clients' needs first, so you will need to have the ability to prioritise your workload and be able to work to and meet deadlines, whilst having an excellent eye for detail and a concern for quality and accuracy. You should have the ability to develop relationships therefore it would be an advantage if you have experience of identifying and developing marketing opportunities.
Ideal candidates will already be working in a Law firm or have experience of working in the legal sector and will have experience of residential property work.
