THE ROLE
A newly created role for a Knowledge Lawyer to join the firm's Dispute Resolution team which assists clients with complex patent and SPC disputes involving multi-jurisdictional litigation between major science and technology companies. The practice covers a broad range of disciplines:
- Life sciences (biotechnology and pharmaceuticals)
- Chemistry
- Engineering
- Technology
They also handle a limited amount of "soft IP" work, primarily relating to trade mark and design disputes (often alongside a patent-related matter) and regulatory work.
The role can be full or port time and on site with hybrid working.
ABOUT YOU
As a senior knowledge lawyer, you will provide thought leadership, content, training and advice to the DR Practice Group and clients.
Key responsibilities
Tracking forthcoming legal and sector developments and briefing on their implications for the practice, clients, and wider firm.
Working closely with the DR partners, Head of Knowledge, and Marketing & BD Director to create legal content in the form of briefings, training presentations and other thought leadership materials to be used to support client development.
Seeking and acting on opportunities to demonstrate the firm's expertise to clients and in the press/relevant journals, as well as preparing content to make the most of such opportunities.
Devising and delivering a programme of regular briefing notes to clients that aligns with the team's strategy and keeps clients updated on key developments as and when they arise.
Identifying knowledge gaps and opportunities to build expertise within the team.
Developing and leading the delivery of a rolling programme of legal training for fee-earners within the DR practice group.
Providing timely responses to ad hoc queries from fee-earners that are apt authoritative and demonstrate expertise.
Assisting with fee-earning work within areas of expertise and, in particular, on complex points of law.
7pqe + in intellectual property, predominantly patent litigation, you are likely to have had exposure to the life sciences and/or tech sectors, and have a strong academic background.
You will also have excellent drafting skills and ideally a proven track record in producing expertly written and insightful client briefing notes, legal journal articles or other client facing materials.
You will be looking to join a successful, yet collegial firm which is going from strength to strength.
