THE COMPANY

A highly successful, respected and innovative international banking and financial services company.

THE ROLE

A solicitor with strong commercial contracts experience is now sought to join the in-house legal team to provide legal support to its global merchant acquiring business.

Reporting to the senior legal team, the role will require:

Proven commercial acumen, providing legal support to the European business, reviewing, structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial agreements, advising with regard to operational issues.

The demonstration of strong business acumen and judgement, and the ability to effectively switch between the roles of a legal advisor and a business partner gained from working in a European / global environment either in-house or at a law firm.

The ability to build robust relationships with stakeholders, sales, operations, compliance and product teams.

The development of a deep understanding of the company's products, services and business models.

Obtaining and coordinating advice from external law firms as required.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will be an England & Wales qualified solicitor at the mid to senior level.

The candidate will ideally have a background or knowledge of the payments industry gained either in house or in private practice. Additional European language skills would be useful.

Candidates must have strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to client service, the ability to lead projects and effect change, and to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Familiarity with payment services and financial services regulations, alternative payment types, mobile wallets, security products, and negotiating agreements and supporting business lines spanning multiple countries is a plus.
