A leading international company within the insurance and financial services sector.
For a Legal & Compliance Counsel to join on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave from now until the end of 2020.
The role will be to provide a professional legal and compliance service to senior management ensuring the Company complies with regulatory and legal requirements.
You will prepare and negotiate a variety of complex and high value legal agreements and if necessary instruct external counsel.
You will proactively monitor and identify changes in the legal and regulatory environment and apply your expert knowledge in providing effective, commercially sound advice and support on these developments to the Board and the business generally.
The role offers variety, ownership and the opportunity to get involved in key projects and initiatives across the business.
You will also support the General Counsel and Head of Compliance with the day to day work and by providing oversight of the wider team.
The role involves some travel including to other offices in the UK.
A solicitor 5pqe+ with in house experience, preferably gained within the insurance or financial services industry, where you will have negotiated, drafted and enforced commercial contracts and financial services regulation.
Capable of producing high quality work in a flexible, fast-paced environment, you will be able to demonstrate creativity in resolving challenging business problems, have the tenacity to achieve tight deadlines and have an understanding of broad business issues.
Able to work on your own initiative, you will also have the ability to function effectively in a team environment.
Experience of leading, managing and developing a team is also desirable.
