A leader in its field, this AIM listed company operates internationally in over 100 countries.

THE ROLE

A maternity cover lawyer for the Head of Commercial, Lead Counsel - Group Legal & Compliance - is now sought to join a busy and collegial legal team.

The role will involve providing lead responsibility for legal support to the Group in relation to its commercial affairs

Reporting to the Group Head of Legal and with three reports, the candidate will provide commercially focussed and high quality legal advice in relation to the legal and regulatory aspects of the Group's commercial and operational affairs

You will be expected to:

Lead and be responsible for recruiting, managing and overseeing the Commercial team, including effective performance management and coaching.

Be responsible for its UK and international commercial contracts with customers, contractors and suppliers

Understand the Group's strategy, its operational and commercial needs and, accordingly, its needs for legal advice

Be a trusted legal adviser to members of the Management Board and the leadership population

Assess, plan and prioritise all legal work and, where necessary, instruct external legal counsel to provide value-for-money support

Deliver all legal services on time and budget

Effectively identify, assess and manage legal risk and to influence stakeholders

Ensure appropriate reporting on, and escalating of, key legal matters

ABOUT YOU

A lawyer with 5pqe+ ideally gained within a business, or as a commercial or corporate associate in a law firm you will have experience of leading and managing teams of lawyers.

You will have experience of rigorous analysis of complex issues and proven delivery of pragmatic solutions to problems and be self-motivated with a 'can-do' attitude, focussed on seeking solutions and possibilities rather than impossibilities

Able to manage a heavy and varied workload, you will have the ability to adapt in a changing business environment and to embrace and implement change

This role is set to run for around 14 months with an intended start date in May or June 2018.
