Job Description

THE COMPANY

The European arm of a successful global retailer, which currently has operations in the UK and Europe and ambitious expansion plans over the coming years.

THE ROLE

The UK based team is now looking for a Senior Lawyer to join the Legal Department to support the European business on an interim basis for 12 months initially. While this is an interim role, there may be an opportunity for an extension or permanent role, (although this is not guaranteed)

The successful candidate will advise on a broad range of commercial matters (primarily relating to business to business arrangements).

In addition to the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts, the role will involve the provision of ad hoc legal advice on an extremely wide range of commercial arrangements and issues to all levels of the business including the Senior Leadership Team.

The role will also involve advising on technology matters.

This position will report to the VP Legal and Risk Director for Europe.

Key responsibilities:

Drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements

Advising on commercial or contractual issues in connection with:


the purchase of merchandise

IP protection, licensing and exploitation

privacy/data protection/data security

employment and TUPE

general compliance issues

ABOUT YOU

At least 5PQE in a recognised law firm and/or a major in-house position.

Capable of building and maintaining a network of effective working relationships, both internally and externally.

Experience of Technology law would be welcomed as it forms an increasing part of the work of the Legal Team.

The team is looking to appoint the successful candidate prior to Christmas ideally.
