THE FIRM

Our client is a major global law firm with a longstanding reputation in the UK.

THE ROLE

The firm's top ranked UK Energy & Climate change team has shaped the sector by creating legal frameworks and market rules in a wide variety of countries, advising their clients on a wide range of technologies including:

Offshore and onshore wind
Interconnectors and networks
Energy storage
Solar
Electric vehicles
Hydrogen
Nuclear
Carbon capture and storage
Digitisation of the energy systems

The advice given includes legal, regulatory and commercial arrangements across the power and renewables sector.

Their work includes a full range of work including commercial, regulatory, M&A and projects. It also occasionally involves advising in parallel areas, such as other utility sectors (gas, water etc).

ABOUT YOU

An additional senior Lawyer is sought, with relevant experience working with the power and renewables sector and to focus on energy regulations and navigating/developing the legal rules and regulations across the power sector

You are likely to have solid relevant post-qualification experience gained in private practice within the UK.

You may be a Senior Associate or Of Counsel and additionally and if of interest, there is an opportunity for the right person to take on more of a PSL role.

Experience across any or all of the energy sub-sectors referred to in the paragraph above is of interest - with opportunities across all of these areas.


Additionally you will have:

A strong academic background and black letter law skills.
A keen interest in the electricity and renewables sectors, and the ability to navigate the economic, technical and financial context within which the legal and regulatory advice is provided. Experience of hydrogen, CCUS and gas, as well as nuclear matters is desirable.
Experience of energy sector regulation (in either the UK and/or the EU).
A commitment to professional development and becoming a real sector expert, as well as the aptitude to work on large, high profile and technically complicated transactions.

Foreign-qualified candidates with suitable PQE and relevant experience gained in the UK will also be of interest.
