Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a NQ - 4 year PQE+ Solicitor to join this national firms Employment team, based in Birmingham.

The Role

The firm has a nationally recognised Employment team which primarily advises employer organisations across a broad range of industry sectors including health and social care (both NHS and independent providers), higher education, housing, local and central government and the broader private sector (manufacturing, retail, publishing and media).

In joining the team your role would involve advising on both contentious and non-contentious workforce matters, working as part of a national team (although based n Bimringham), across our diverse client base.

You would work closely with the relevant partner leads as well as the Associates in the team. Depending upon your level of expertise, there is flexibility to have your own case load whilst being appropriately supervised and supported. You would be advising on employer relations matters including internal disciplinary /grievance/capability processes, reviewing policies and procedures and contracts, advising on equalities obligations, and conduct of and/or support on Employment Tribunals. You would also be given exposure to supporting on transactional and non-contentious advisory matters involving TUPE and pensions issues as well as ad hoc queries and support on business immigration matters. Bevan Brittan is actively involved in a range of business development and marketing initiatives and you would be given exposure to attending and participating in training seminars and workshops on a broad range of employment issues as well as networking opportunities.

The Individual

The individual would ideally have the following:

  • NQ - 4+ years PQE
  • Have undertaken an employment seat as part of their training programme and/or have some experience of advising on both contentious and non- contentious employment issues, ideally with experience on TUPE/corporate support
  • Prior experience and/or exposure to working with employers in higher education and/or private sector services is desirable
  • Experience and/or an interest in business development and marketing initiatives

An interest in developing new skill sets in particular business immigration support
