Job Description

A major international law firm with a construction team which provides expert advice on all aspects of construction law from the inception of a project through to completion, both contentious and non-contentious work.

The team is seeking to recruit a talented, dynamic and motivated Supervising Associate to work on construction litigation and/or arbitration and adjudications.

An engineering background would be an asset but is by no means essential.

The client base includes acting for and against construction professionals, employers and contractors on a mix of transport, engineering, energy and infrastructure projects in the UK and around the world.

Prior experience of working with such a diverse group will be advantageous.

The existing team has significant expertise in the NEC and FIDIC form of contract while also advising on most of the other standard forms. A good working knowledge of NEC and FIDIC is essential and some exposure to other forms would be a significant advantage.

A thorough and current working knowledge of the TCC and adjudication is essential. A good understanding of arbitration is also advantageous and exposure to international rules such as ICC, LCIA and UCTA will be particularly beneficial. An understanding of the international legal landscape and experience of enforcement in foreign jurisdictions would be beneficial in addition.

Excellent communication skills not only with colleagues but with clients as well as an ability to identify and tailor communication to different audiences from in-house counsel to site operatives, to junior team members to partners.

Trained and qualified with a leading City or regional firm with ideally 5pqe or more in construction disputes.

Knowledge of the construction industry is essential and good knowledge of technical construction and claim preparation will be a significant advantage.

Interest in, and ability to, market to new and existing clients and spot opportunities for others both within the team and the firm as a whole to exploit.

Lipson Lloyd Jones Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy. Please note our advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the minimum level of experience required. However we are happy to consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary to fulfill this kind of work.
