Job Description

Our client is a full service law firm based in Newcastle upon Tyne serving clients throughout the UK and further afield. They are one of the largest law firms in the North East with their client base including large companies, owner managed businesses, healthcare professionals, leisure operators and rural businesses.

Key Responsibilities

The firm has recently embarked upon an ambitious strategic plan. As part of their growth strategy they are looking to expand the commercial team.

They require an experienced commercial Solicitor (2 - 6 years PQE) to join the busy Company Commercial department. This role is a full time position in which the successful candidate will be expected to carry a substantial and demanding caseload, fully embrace practice development activities and demonstrate the ability to work under time pressure and to exacting client demands.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Drafting and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements including:
    • Terms and Conditions of Trade
    • Agency and Distribution Agreements
    • Franchising Agreements
    • Supply Agreements
    • Facilities & Asset Management Agreements
    • Service Level Agreements
    • Manufacturing Agreements
    • Advertising, Sponsorship and Marketing Agreements
    • IT Contracts (including software development, maintenance and support agreements)
    • Collaboration Agreements
  • Advising in relation to Intellectual Property Issues
  • Advising on data protection and the implementation of GDPR
  • Business Development


An excellent up to date knowledge of relevant Law, experience of running a case load with minimal supervision and proven experience of business development is essential. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to prioritise, cope under pressure and work to strict deadlines. Good communication skills are essential as is managing expectations across a wide range of competing needs, a willingness to cover a variety of tasks and work outside of core hours on occasion.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
